Edinburgh Capitals suffered a second defeat of the weekend when they went down 7-1 at home to Sheffield Steelers.
Their only joy can from a strike by Pavel Vorobyev after two minutes but inconsistent Steelers controlled the play after that.
They won the second period 4-0 and the third 3-0 with Cole Shudra netting a treble and Mat Marquardt a double.
Elsewhere, Fife Flyers went down 4-1 at long-time league pace-setters Cardiff Devils.
Patrick Asselin opened the scoring on the power play after six minutes and Gleason Fournier added a second five minutes later.
Chase Schaber pulled one back unassisted after 31 minutes but two third-period strikes kept the points in Wales.
Joey Martin scored after 44 minutes and Paul Crowder assisted by former Dundee Stars player Justin Faryna ended the scoring eight minutes later.
And Dundee Stars made it six wins out of seven games with a 4-1 home victory over Braehead Clan, reversing a 7-3 defeat to the Glasgow club last Sunday.
