Elite League: Braehead Clan 6, Dundee Stars 0

Tyler Scofield claimed a glory treble as Braehead Clan shutout Scottish rivals Dundee Stars last night (SUN) to claim their 13th Elite League win this season.

The 33-year-old winger from Prince George, British Columbia, was the toast of Braehead as he delivered after coach John Tripp asked his men to finish the year in style.

The home side were 2-0 ahead after the first session and added another double in the middle period.

And they finished off second-bottom Dundee with two goals in the third of a game in which they outshot the Tayside team 34-29.

Clan join Coventry Blaze on 28 points from 30 games and they now have a three-point cushion over Milton Keynes Lightning who are tenth having played the same number of fixtures.

Dundee have now only won six games in regulation time plus two in overtime and sit with 19 points after 28 fixtures, six behind Milton Keynes but with two games in hand over the English side.

Earlier, Michal Gutwald opened the scoring after four minutes and Scofield added a second three minutes later.

Scofield made it 3-0 only 60 seconds into the middle session and former Fife Flyers star Brendan Brooks added a fourth five minutes later.

Mike Embach after 47 minutes and Scofield ten minutes later ended the scoring leaving Stars coach Omar Pacha with work to do ahead of Tuesday’s return on Tayside (7.30pm).
