Dundee keeper Scott Bain on brink of move to Hibs

Hibs’ assistant manager Garry Parker has confirmed that ‘frozen-out’ Dundee keeper Scott Bain is on the brink of joining the club in this transfer window.

Bain is expected to join Hibs on loan with a view to a summer switch.

The Edinburgh born 26-year-old started his career at Aberdeen but failed to make the first team and was loaned to Elgin City.

He later joined Alloa athletic for whom he made over 100 appearances before moving to Dundee.

In May 2015, ahead of a friendly with Qatar and a Euro 2016 qualifying match with the Republic of Ireland the following month.

He fell out of favour at Dens Park following a reported bust up with Neil McCann and Parker believes that his arrival will increase competition for the number one jersey.

Following an injury to Ross Laidlaw, Hibs have only one experienced keeper, Ofir Marciano.

Speaking after Hibs 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock, Parker said: “He has been in talks so hopefully (he will sign) because we have only one fit goalkeeper just now.

“So it will be competition for Ofir Marciano and that’s good.

“That’s what you need at this level. Ofir will need to be on his toes.”
