Neil Lennon believes that John McGinn has added £2m to transfer value after Celtic Park double

Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon believes that ‘Super’ John McGinn added £2m onto his transfer value with his two wonder goals against Celtic yesterday.

Hibs looked to have ended Celtics long unbeaten domestic record when McGinn made the score 2-1 with 12 minutes remaining but the Hoops fought back and grabbed a late equaliser.

Apart from McGinn’s double, the main talking point after the final whistle was an incredible point blank save by Craig Gordon from Steven Whittaker which Lennon compared to Gordon’s Banks’ save from Pele in the 1970 World Cup finals in Mexico.

Lennon’s men now face a difficult run of fixtures.

After the international break, Hibs face high flying Aberdeen at Easter Road then return to Glasgow to meet Celtic in the Betfred League Cup semi-final before the first Edinburgh derby of the season three days later.

“I said he was a £5m player and I think he’s just put a couple more million on his price tag today. He was one of a number of outstanding performers.

“It’s very difficult to put into words how proud I am at that performance. We didn’t take a step back the whole game. It was an outstanding team performance.

“The game could have gone either way and we are disappointed not to win, which speaks volumes for how we played.

“You have to earn the right to play good football. First half, we weren’t good enough in the final third, but second half we were outstanding.”

“I have to say you won’t see a better save than what I saw from Craig Gordon today,” he told BBC Scotland.

“He has his detractors, but that was Gordon Banks territory. I don’t know how he saved that.

“We’re a good team, we’ve played our socks off. It was an outstanding game for the Scottish league.”
