Men’s hockey – Inverleith through to next round
Inverleith qualified for the next round of the Scottish Cup when they beat St Andrews University 4-1.
John Martin netted a double and Murray Fotheringham and Stuart Hatton both grabbed singles.
The Edinburgh side were, however, 1-0 down following a penalty corner from the students after 12 minutes.
But they hit two goal to lead 3-1 at the break and finished the job off with another in the second-half of a match played in miserable conditions.
Stuart Neave, Inverleith’s coach, said the squad have received a welcome boost from the win ahead of Saturday’s home Division One clash with Tayside-based Grove Menzieshill at Peffermill (16.00).
Neave said: “We controlled the game after a poor start and it is nice to record a win.
“It’s been a tough start for use in the league but this is a boost ahead of the match against Grove.”
