Field hockey – Dunfermline dream of big cup win

Dunfermline Carnegie dream of giant killing when they square-up to long-time Scottish kingpins Bromac Kelburne in the Scottish Cup.

The Fife side travel to Glasgow’s National Hockey Centre on Sunday for the clash and before Saturday’s round of league fixtures they were top of Division Two and on a five-game winning streak.

Dunfermline have scored 23 goals and lost only six while Kelburne, the defending Division One champions, have also gone five games unbeaten, scoring 22 goals and conceding nine in the process.

Second-placed Western Wildcats, who were the early-season pace-setters in Division One, visit misfiring Hillhead in an all-West of Scotland clash (Anniesland, noon).

Grange, who are third and who lost out on winning the Division One title in a dramatic final day last season, entertain minnows FMGM Monarchs (Fettes College, 14.00) who are fifth in the eight-strong Division Three.

An all Division One clash features sixth-placed Grove Menzieshill at home to Uddingston who are seventh (13.00, Dundee International Sports Centre).

Dundee Wanders from Division One make the long trip north to Bught Park to play Highland Hockey Club who are second in Division Three.

Edinburgh University also on the road. They visit Glasgow University (13.30, Garscube) and the pointless West of Scotland club are struggling having lost all four of their fixtures to be second-bottom of Division Two.

Finally, Division One side Clydesdale entertain Division Two side Falkirk and Linlithgow at Titwood (17.00).
