Ice hockey – Dutiaume has double vision

Todd Dutiaume looking for another win over Edinburgh Capitals

Fife Flyers are seeking a Challenge Cup, Group B, double over Edinburgh Capitals when they visit Murrayfield on Sunday (6pm).

Todd Dutiaume coached the the Kirkcaldy club to a 7-5 victory at Rosslyn Street earlier in the competition but Capitals ice new defenceman Julius Nyqvist who is due to make his home debut.

The 24-year-old has joined Capitals following an impressive junior career having represented Finland from under-16 to under-20 level.

The player feels the move to the Elite League is the best chance for him to move his career forward.

Capitals coach Dmitri Khristich has worked his men hard this week, stressing the need for a tighter defence following last Sunday’s 3-1 home defeat by Braehead Clan.

Capitals will have to watch Fife’s leading points scorers so far Liam Heelis and Peter LeBlanc. Face off here is at 6pm.

Elsewhere, Scottish-born Peter Russell brings his Elite League newcomers Milton Keynes Lightning to Dundee Stars on Sunday (6.30pm).

Lewis Hook and former Hull, Nottingham and Cardiff hit-man Guillaume Doucett carry a threat as do Kevin King and Paul Phillips.

Lightning have impressed so far, recording some shock results including a 7-4 win over Coventry Blaze and a 5-2 success against league champions Cardiff Devils.
