Inverleith have one unnamed absentee for Friday’s Division One clash against Edinburgh University.

Coach Stuart Neave is looking forward to game which pushes-off at 8pm at Peffermill and follows his club’s 5-1 defeat at Bromac Kelburne, the reigning league champions, at Glasgow’s National Hockey Centre last Saturday.

He said: “Hopefully, we’ll have a few supporters from both sides and thankfully we have no injury concerns ahead of the game with only one missing because of work commitments.”

Looking back to the defeat, Neave, who guided Inverleith to promotion last season, said: “Whilst I was obviously disappointed in the result and the slow start we had.

“I was, however, very pleased as the game went on, especially in the second-half where we created a number of good opportunities. Overall the work rate and attitude of the team was excellent.”

Meanwhile, Inverleith’s cup game on Sunday has been cancelled because their opposition, Stirling University, have conceded the match.

Uddingston play Western Wildcats also on Friday night with Dundee Wanderers hosting Hillhead at Dalnacraig (2pm), Grange entertaining Grove Menzieshill (Fettes College, 2pm) and Clydesdale Hockey Club hosting Bromac Kelburne at Titwood (4pm).
