Come along on a rollicking singalong from Edinboro (sic) to the glamorous world of the silver screen, and some of the most famous Hollywood divas. Just like us mere mortals when at the hairdresser, the divas seek solace, comfort, healing and escape in the make-up room chair.

Through the medium of the  make-up girl’s gossip, we learn of the early days of the divas, humble beginnings and name changes all to make them more attractive to their screen  audiences.

Their lovers, failed marriages and addictions are revealed. Are they  great in spite of, or because of, their tragedy?

The make-up girls compete to become the diva and suddenly (with the benefit of a time machine!) we are in the movie theatre with Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, Doris Day, Julie Andrews and ultimately Gail Watson excels as a very convincing Dolly Parton.

If you know the movies and their songs, then come along for the ride. It is funny and sometimes a little sad, but great fun. Sing, clap and enjoy.

We have to mention not only the three divas, but also the pianist who looked as though she was having just the best time! This show is a reprise from 2015 when it sold out at its premiere. So hurry off and get your tickets!

Doris, Dolly and the Dressing Room Divas is on at the Gilded Balloon Rose Theatre (possibly our favourite venue now….) until 28 August at 8.45pm.
