Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 – ALICE FRASER: EMPIRE
Alice Fraser returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with a brand new hour of reliably silly, unpredictably meaningful, narratively unorthodox art-comedy.
Empire has played to five-star reviews at this year’s Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth festivals. It explores good and evil, the problem with electrons, the dubious pleasure of certainty, and why we love Disney villains.
With her signature mix of heartfelt storytelling, acute observation and memorable punchlines, Fraser is as comfortable musing on quantum physics as breaking out her banjo. Empire asks us to confront the gut reactions we aren’t proud of; embrace a world that’s as ridiculous as it is complicated; and question our various
inheritances, from property to privilege.
2017 marks Alice Fraser’s third Fringe outing, having sold out seasons and toured the world to critical acclaim with her 2015 & 2016 solo shows Savage and The Resistance.
Academic, ex-corporate lawyer, writer, musician and critically acclaimed comedian Alice Fraser has performed all over the world, from Cambridge to New York, and from London to Damascus – bringing sold out shows to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Canberra Comedy Festival, LA Podcast Festival, Perth, Adelaide, New Zealand and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
