Edinburgh artist Anna Somerville – Solo Exhibition – Horizon
until 30th August 2017
&Gallery, 17 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6QG

Horizon is an exhibition of paintings which have been created over the last year, the works on show have been inspired by Somerville’s recent travels to India, Sri Lanka and Tenerife, as well as her home city of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Painting intuitively in mixed media and oil to imagine atmospheric horizons, the expressive paintings deliver expansive compositions of abstracted light and form.

Somerville has an exceptional use of colour and ability to capture movement with bold brush strokes building on layers paint. She is known for her expressive painterly style, and has been awarded the prestigious Elizabeth Blackadder & John Houston Travel Award, 2000, and Anne Redpath Award for painting, 2003.

Anna Somerville graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000 and works from her studio at Summerhall in Edinburgh.
