An inspiring young woman from Edinburgh has won the highest award in Girlguiding.
Rosalyn Old, 26, from Edinburgh was presented with her Queen’s Guide Award at the House of Commons on Saturday 3rd June by Val Elliott, the Interim Chair of Girlguiding’s Board of Trustees and Sally Illsley, Deputy Chief Guide.

Rosalyn first joined Girlguiding as a ”Rainbow” in the Corstorphine Hill District and has since worked her way towards the Queen’s Guide Award while studying at Cambridge University.
She has since returned to Edinburgh as an adult volunteer supporting local units. She has also supported Girlguiding on a national level by sitting on the charity’s trustee board, running a project to encourage more students to volunteer with Girlguiding and developing a green leadership project for girls.
Rosalyn says: ”I’m really proud to have achieved my Queen’s Guide Award and to have pushed myself to go beyond my comfort zone and take on new challenges. I’ve made some amazing memories while working towards this Award including meeting young women from all over the world and making international friendships.”

Girlguiding was able to host the Queen’s Guide Award ceremony due to funding from People’s Postcode Lottery.
