Gordon holds a Blooming Great Tea Party

Edinburgh Pentlands MSP Gordon MacDonald hosted a tea party for Marie Curie at his constituency office yesterday.

The “Blooming Great Tea Party” is a fundraising initiative being held across the country. Supporters are invited to get together and have a cup of tea together while raising money for the charity and the services they provide.

Marie Curie are also encouraging people to host raffles, baking competitions and fun games.

Councillor Cathy Fullerton came along to have a cup of tea with Gordon

Richard Meade Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Marie Curie who was also at the tea party explained that the charity needs to raise £12 million per year to fund all the services they offer.

This figure includes around £4 million to run the hospice at Fairmilehead where they are having a fete today. (And Gordon is drawing the raffle!)

Richard was recently invited to Holyrood to talk to MSPs about the charity. He told us that around 22 MSPs across Scotland are now holding their own tea parties to support the work the charity does.

And if you would like to hold your own tea party then you can get all the resources like balloons and bunting from the charity’s website here.
