Scotland under-16 coach Chris Duncan praised his squad after they bounced back with two convincing wins after a defeat.

The Scots beat Ireland 7-3 and 4-0 in Belfast after going down 4-2 in their first game.

Fraser Heigh, Euan Menzies, Struan Walker and Frazer Moran netted in the final game.

Scotland took a 1-0 half-time lead on Sunday and controlled the game but goalkeeper Matthew Taylor was called upon to produce quality saves.

Scotland upped the tempo in the second-half after weathering an early storm and two quick goals ended the contest.

Duncan said: “Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the group. Friday’s defeat was a reality check.

“They had won recent international games comfortably but we were pushed and that’s just what I wanted.

“They responded magnificently on Saturday and then again on Sunday and I’m really pleased with their effort and application during the last few months.

“They are an excellent team and this was a great way to end the season.”
