Pawel Lozinski directs this reconstructed family therapy with mother Ewa (Ewa Szymczyk) and daughter Hanna (Hanna Maciag) talking about their relationship over several sessions with Professor Bogdan de Barbara.  In Polish with English subttitles, this is a moving examination of the complexity of a relationship and the effect that a family separation can have on confidence and the ability to empathise and nurture.  The therapy, we are told, is not based on a real-life family dialogue for reasons of confidentiality but the two actors have drawn on their own family experiences to bring us a simple, dramatic, affecting story which examines feelings and conflicts which are familiar to many of us.

Professor de Barbara is so skilled, so direct yet compassionate in his therapy technique, that the viewer can almost see healing taking place.

An unusual presentation but very worth viewing.
