Speedway – Havelock craves for slice of luck

Gary Havelock hopes for better luck when Berwick Bandits visit Peterborough Panthers tonight Friday.

The former world champion is frustrated as the Borders club prop up the rest of the ten-strong SGB Championship.

Last weekend, bad luck struck again as Lewis Bridger fell ill on the way to Workington Comets for a league match.

Rider replacement was granted but that only collected five points and team manager Havelock said: “Cannot believe our luck.

“We get our side how we want it and Lewis (Bridger) falls ill on the way to Cumbria.

“It’s unbelievable. If he’d been fit I honestly think this was another match we could have won.

“It’s so frustrating. When you’re down look out for the sand getting kicked in your face.”

Bandits will be at full strength at Peterborough on Friday and at home to Peterborough on Saturday.
