Princes Street Gardens among the best visitor attractions in the world
Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens has been ranked amongst the world’s best visitor attractions.
The gardens managed by the City of Edinburgh Council, has been selected as a winner of TripExpert’s 2017 Experts’ Choice Award.
Based on professional reviews by travel guides, magazines and newspapers, the Experts’ Choice Award is given annually to well-reviewed and recommended attractions around the world.
This year, Princes Street Gardens also received travel review website TripExpert’s Best of Edinburgh award, which recognises the most worthwhile landmarks to visit in the capital.
David Jamieson, Parks and Green Space Manager at the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “This award demonstrates the value of Princes Street Gardens as a first-class attraction for both visitors and residents, hundreds of thousands of whom relax in its grounds or enjoy its events every year.
“Edinburgh, which was recently classed as the UK’s greenest city, boasts some 150 beautiful parks and green spaces, and it’s with thanks to the hard work of our parks staff that these can be enjoyed all year-round.”

Princes Street Gardens was first established in the early 19th century, and is listed in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscape in Scotland, assessed as outstanding for its aesthetic, historical, architectural and scenic values.
Amongst key features, the Gardens house the world-famous floral clock, first planted in 1903, and several significant monuments and memorials, including the Scott Monument in East Princes Street Gardens.
