One of Edinburgh’s leading field hockey clubs has celebrated their 100th birthday in style.

Inverleith held a two-day festival at their current home ground at Peffermill.

The event included mixed teams, veteran sides (one of the players, Ali Philip, will be 79 in a few weeks time), legends, including Olympian Stephen Dick, and the current first team featuring club stalwart Derek Salmond, a former Scottish international.

And they also hosted a birthday bash at Murrayfield, the home of the club for many years.

Alan Wall, one of the organisers, said that it had been a fantastic two days capped off by the recent promotion of the men’s team back to the top flight of Scottish hockey.
