Reformed Scottish punk pioneers, The Skids, play the Liquid Room in Edinburgh next Friday May 5th.  To celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the band and of the spread of punk across Britain, writer and music blogger John Kruse has revised and reissued his 2015 novel Feeling called love.

Feeling Called love (named after a song by the punk band Wire), is a semiautobiographical story set partly in Dunfermline, the hometown of The Skids, and partly in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, the mining town where John Kruse was born and brought up.  It is a teenage love story set against the background of the emergence of punk.  Additional material has been added to the second edition celebrating the very beginnings of The Skids’ career, including an introduction outlining the band’s early history.

Kruse said:
“I realised that Shona, one of the two main characters in the novel, was in Dunfermline just at the time that The Skids formed.  I had made her a punk rocker in Fife before I discovered The Skids connection, but it seemed incredibly fortuitous and it made sense to develop the theme- especially in the fortieth birthday year.”

Feeling Called love is released through Kindle and as a paperback through Amazon priced at £3.75 for the e-book and £5.75 for the paperback.
