Man charged with careless driving after Cowgate crash

Edinburgh Police have said that they have charged a 64-year-old man under Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act  following a road traffic collision in Edinburgh’s Cowgate on Saturday 29 April 2017. This is the offence of driving without due care and attention.

The collision involved a taxi and three women at around 9.20pm, just before the street becomes a pedestrian zone at 10pm.

The three who are believed to have been passengers in the taxi, are receiving treatment for what are described as ‘non-life threatening injuries’ at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. It was reported on social media that the incident took place opposite the Three Sisters pub.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
