Hockey – Grange take on Western Wildcats

GRANGE look to beat lowly Western Wildcats and put pressure on front-runners Bromac Kelburne as men’s Division One gets back into action after the mid-season break.

The Edinburgh side travel to Auchenhowie (13.00) and are second in the division with 19 points from seven games while Kelburne have 24 points but have played nine fixtures.

Western, in contrast, are eighth in the ten-strong table with eight points from the same number of games and they have a vastly inferior goal difference to the Edinburgh team.

Western have scored 17 goals and let in 23 while Grange have netted on 32 occasions and conceded only 14, the second best figure in the league apart from Kelburne. For the record they have scored 38 goals and let in nine.

Watsonians, who topped the table at the start of the season, host fifth-placed Grove Menzieshill at Peffermill (16.00).

The Edinburgh side have suffered a form loss and have nine points from eight games while Grove have 13 points from seven fixtures.

Watsonians need points as they bid to remain among Scotland’s elite and a timely win here would life the side ahead of the run-in to the end of the regular season.
