Film – Preview screening of Free Fire with Q&A – 28 February only

An action comedy film, ‘Free Fire’ takes place in a warehouse where a gang of criminals have met to trade arms.  Unfortunately, the plan deteriorates when an argument starts and descends into a shoot-out between the two groups.

‘Free Fire’ features Brie Larson, in her first post-Oscar winning role, Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer and Cillian Murphy in an ensemble cast and backed by Executive producer Martin Scorsese.

The Cameo is one of the oldest operating cinemas in Scotland.  With over a century of history, it opened for business as the King’s Cinema on 8 January 1914.

An important venue for the Edinburgh International Film Festival beginning in 1949, when it officially became The Cameo, the cinema has a proud tradition of screening arthouse projects.

Now owned by Cineworld Group plc under the Picturehouse Cinemas chain as the only one of its outlets in Scotland, this independent cinema has had three screens for 25 years this year.

Many cinemas like The Cameo existed across Scotland at one time or another, but with its original architecture mostly intact, this building is the only one left trading.

Oscar winners Danny Boyle, Orson Welles, Charlize Theron, Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu have all visited The Cameo during its lifetime

‘Free Fire’ will be released in cinemas in the United Kingdom on 31 March 2017.
