Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017 – Edinburgh event

The Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology began on 1 January 2017 and will run to the end of the year. There will be a series of events throughout the year to highlight buildings, visitor attractions and archaeological sites, and some of these will take place in Edinburgh.

The national tourism organisation, VisitScotland, explains that the aim is to raise Scotland’s profile and showcase our distinctive history. The Scottish Government began the initiative which uses the hashtag #HHA2017 on Twitter and it is supported by a variety of other organisations such as Historic Environment Scotland and Creative Scotland.
