Speedway – Masters back in the Australian title frame
SAM Masters believes his win in the second round of the Australian Championship at the weekend has powered him back into gold medal contention.
The Edinburgh Monarchs and Wolverhampton Wolves star triumphed in Mildura and is six points behind leader Davey Watt at the halfway stage of the series.
He also trails former Monarchs team-mate Justin Sedgmen by three points but Masters said: “Gillman is my weakest track of the championship and that was where the first round was held.
“I feel great after winning the second round and it’s made me feel pretty confident of making a push to win the title.
“If I can have a strong finish then I reckon I’ll be pretty close at least. I’m just so happy with the way I’m feeling and riding and let’s see if I can carry it on.”
