Marmalade awards – search on to find the world’s best

The search is on to find the world’s top marmalade maker and Scottish collection points have been confirmed.

The event is now in its 12th year and this time takes place on 18 and 19 March.

Previous competitions have attracted over 3,000 entries and the awards raise money for Marie Curie Scotland and Hospice at Home Carlisle and the North Lakes.

There are 14 homemade categories and the award will be given to the artisan producer who best encapsulates the values of quality, entrepreneurial spirit and innovation.

The winner will receive personal advisory sessions from event patron Mackays, one of the largest producers of marmalade in the UK. Mackays have also confirmed a prize for professional marmalade makers.

Martin Grant of Mackays said: “Scotland’s marmalade making heritage is famous and we hope that Scottish artisan and homemade marmalade will once more be brilliantly represented in 2017.

“I would encourage everyone who loves making marmalade to have a go. Not only is it wonderful fun but it is for a fantastic cause.”

Marmalade entries can be dropped off at the entry points until 6 February and for further information see the website. Entries can also be posted directly.
