Man charged following Abercromby Place collision
Edinburgh Police tell us that they have charged a man in connection with a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian in Edinburgh’s New Town at the beginning of the month.
The incident happened on Monday, 5 December 2016 at the corner of Abercromby Place and Dundas Street.
A 73-year-old man was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a silver-coloured saloon car, which then failed to stop. It was last seen heading east along Abercromby Place before it went out of sight.
The man sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Officers traced the 31-year-old after a public appeal for information was issued and police thank everyone who came forward for their assistance.
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the man is expected to appear in court at a later date.
