Lewis Stevenson hopes to round off memorable year with victory over Falkirk

Hibs’ long serving full back Lewis Stevenson is hoping to round off a memorable 2016 in style with a victory over Falkirk this afternoon.

Hibs have already won at the Falkirk stadium this season but Stevenson anticipates another battle against the team that spoiled his promotion dreams last season.

Neil Lennon’s men will be without first team regular Ofir Marciano, John McGinn and Fraser Fyvie due to injuries as the team aim to return to the top of the table after dropping to second place last weekend.

Stevenson told Hibernian TV: It’s always a tough game when we got to Falkirk. We have had a few battles in the past but recently we have done quite well there and hopefully we can keep that going.

“The first game against Falkirk seems a long time ago and I’m sure both teams have changed a bit since.

“We need to get back to winning ways after two draws, so it’s a big game for us. If we can go there and win, it can springboard us forward into the next match.

“If we can round off the year in style the that would be nice.

“The players are as frustrated as the fans are but it’s a strange one as even in the Raith Rovers game we probably played better than we did against Dumbarton where we got the three points.

“I don’t think it’s the fact that we are playing badly, we just need to turn these performances into wins.

“There is a long way to go and as long as we are top at the end of April and the start of May then that’s the most important thing.

“Winning the Scottish Cup will probably never be surpassed but that’s in the past and we have to focus on the future and getting promoted this season.”
