Ian Schultz likely to miss today’s Forth Country derby
Ian Schultz is a massive player for Edinburgh Capitals and he is likely to sit out today’s (SAT, 4pm) Forth Country derby against Fife Flyers writes Nigel Duncan.
The former National Hockey League draft pick missed the confidence-sapping midweek defeat by Braehead Clan at Murrayfied but is improving. However, the razor-sharp player does not want to bring forward his return and suffer a relapse.
It’s a massive game for Capitals who have lost their last five fixtures and they go in against a side who are confident after blitzing Dundee Stars in midweek with three goals inside the first nine minutes before emerging with a 5-3 win.
Schultz said: “I’m not sure of a definite return date yet and don’t want to push it too hard too fast but the injury is feeling better and better each day.”
He added: “I definitely thought we deserved a better result then we got against the Clan. Basically, they got a couple calls go their way and we didn’t.”
Despite Capitals lowly position Schultz remains positive and said: “I absolutely think we can make the play-offs. We’ve shown we can play and had success against the best teams in the league but every game from here on out is important.”
