Colinton Community Council wants answers on RBS closures

When the Colinton branch of RBS was closed the bank gave assurances that they would continue to serve locals from the Juniper Green branch.

Now RBS have decided to close that branch too.

If you have any views or comments on this, Colinton Community Council would very much like to hear from you. A small group of politicians and local community councillors met recently to discuss the threatened closure.

The community council claim that RBS officials have not answered their questions satisfactorily and they are pushing for clarification on matters raised by those living in Balerno, Colinton, Currie and Juniper Green.

Local residents and in particular the elderly and vulnerable, as well as local businesses will be most affected.

The group includes Gordon MacDonald MSP, Allister McKillop, Vic Stewart, Gordon Lindhurst MSP, Councillor Ricky Henderson, Richard Henderson, Joanna Cherry QC MP and Cliff Beevers.

They propose to investigate the closure of the only banking facility in the area and secondly they are to put out feelers for any alternative banking solutions. The group will meet again in the New Year.

Juniper Green Community Council have already set up a small group seeking further information from RBS.
