An Edinburgh supermarket sponsored a child and their family to go on the When You Wish Upon A Star’s Polar Express Day which gave around 70 Wish children with a terminal or life-threatening illness from all over Scotland a chance to experience a magical trip with their families.

The group boarded the Belmond Northern Belle train to Glamis Castle and the day included children designing heir own Christmas bauble. There was also a Christmas party and firework display.

Andy Walker, store manager at Tesco Edinburgh Broughton Road, said: “Time is very precious to the Wish children and their families so were delighted to show our support and sponsor a family to experience the Polar Express trip.”

Margaret Rowarth, Scotland Regional Manager for When You Wish Upon A Star, said: “All children have wishes, but for our Wish children and their families that wish is much more precious. As such, our team really appreciates the Tesco team sponsoring a family to go on our Polar Express trip. They have granted a child’s wish this Christmas and that’s absolutely fantastic.”

So far the charity has granted over 16,500 wishes and the Tesco team will also be supporting the charity with their Santa Run on December 11.
This takes place at West Princess Street Gardens and store colleagues will be handing out mince pies and bottled water for all participants crossing the finishing line.

NOTE: If you would like to take part in the Santa Fun Run you can register at www.thesantarun.org.uk
