Hibs Development Squad come from behind to beat St Johnstone
A young Hibs’ Development Squad beat St Johnstone 2-1 at the Excelsior Stadium on Tuesday night.
Joseph Johnson gave Saints an early lead before Jack Breen equalised midway through the first half.
Striker Oli Shaw secured the victory with a late volley.
After the game Development Squad Coach Grant Murray told he club website: “We got there in the end, result wise. I think we’ve performed better, we performed in stages today, our use of the ball was a wee bit sloppy at times in both halves.
“However, we’ve come from a goal behind, so it’s good credit for the boys it shows a bit of resilience. They played right until the final whistle and got the rewards for it.
“It’s great, it really is, but it is more for the players because they’ve shown that desire and that they know how to turn the game around.
“It’s a learning curve for these boys and it’s trying to get the best out of them day in, day out every week in terms of their development and performances.
“Obviously they went down to ten men at the time and we thought about changing things up and pushing it.
“Oli’s in the right place at the right time, good strikers do that and it was a good finish after some great work from Callum Donaldson.”
