Canal View Primary are good at maths!
Primary 6 pupils at Canal View Primary School have come first in an online maths competition run across all City of Edinburgh Council primary schools.
The City of Edinburgh City Council Education Convener Cllr Cammy Day visited the school earlier this week to congratulate the class and to present them with their winning trophy.
The competition is run by Edinburgh-based social enterprise Sumdog, who have developed a sophisticated online game-based learning system specifically designed to improve skills and attainment in maths and literacy and carefully aligned to the Curriculum for Excellence.
In total, more than 2,300 pupils from more than 100 classes across the city took part in the competition. Primary 6 pupils at Canal View clinched the Sumdog trophy with a score of 794 points after answering over 27,700 questions throughout the week, winning by a margin of 60 points over second placed P7 at Letham Primary School.
