Abbi on top of the world at just 13
Abbi Rae is World, British, Irish and German champion yet she is only 13 and she finished her season in style last weekend by winning the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Junior European Championship.
The competition at Wolverhampton attracted a record number of 600 competitors from 17 different countries and in the final the talented teenager was up against a 15-year-old Spanish girl. The fight only lasted two minutes with Abbi completely dominating.
The athlete, who trains at Rick Young’s Black Belt Academy in Edinburgh, is also working with the UK BJJ Elite Squad team in preparation for 2017 the Kids Pan Ams.
Her mother, Lani Todd, said: “This year to date Abbi has competed in ten major tournaments winning every fight. She has gained 13 gold medals and big titles.
“Brazilian Jiu Jitsu takes Abbi from country to country, making friends and meeting lots of lovely, like-minded people.
“If anyone would like to help support Abbi on her Jiu Jitsu journey it would be very much appreciated.
“She works hard to get to where she is.”
