Three men jailed after drugs seized

Three men have been collectively sentenced to nearly nine years in prison for the sale and supply of drugs in the Edinburgh area.

Matthew Watt (21), Matthew Todd (26) and Shuaib Dar (23) all pleaded guilty and were sentenced at Glasgow High Court on Wednesday, October 19th. Watt received four years, Todd 40 months and Dar 18 months.

Officers targeted Todd and Watt and were able to evidence them meeting with Dar at Abington Services, South Lanarkshire.  Subsequent enquires led to the recovery of Class A controlled drugs with a potential street value in excess of £170,000.

Officers were able to build a strong case that ultimately led to the conviction of all three men.

Detective Inspector David Wright from the East Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit, said: “This intelligence led operation focused on the supply of significant quantities of Class A controlled drugs from England to Scotland.

“The sale and use of illegal substances is a scourge on our community and is a top priority for Police Scotland.

“As a force we are committed to identifying and removing those responsible for the distribution of drugs from our communities and confidential information from the public plays a key part in this.
