Children’s art competition celebrating Drumbrae Leisure Centre relaunch
Edinburgh children took part in ActiveArt competition celebrating the refurbishment of Drumbae Leisure Centre last Monday, 3 October 2016.
In ActiveArt entrants were asked to create a colourful A4 picture illustrating their favourite way of being active. They could choose from a painting, collage, printmaking or photography.
Emily Neil, Drumbrae Leisure Centre’s Manager said: “Being part of the biggest club in town, we wanted to see what inspired the children to get active. From gym, swim and fitness classes, children’s coaching and health and wellbeing programmes for the local community, no matter what age or stage you are, there is something for everyone.
There were 3 age groups: under 8 years; 8-12 years; and 13 – 19 years. The winner in each group received a Clip ‘n Climb voucher for six people. The runners up in each section won a £20 art voucher and a goody bag.
Olympic swimmer, Robbie Renwick, presented the winners and runners up with their prizes.
Emily Neil continued: ”Having Olympic silver medallist, Robbie Renwick, present them with their own prizes has been the icing on the cake. They couldn’t believe their luck in meeting a real life Olympian and getting to wear his medal.”
The gym at Drumbrae was recently refurbished with the latest equipment. The experienced gym team will be launching new gym classes and helping customers to achieve their personal goals.
Edinburgh Leisure has invested in a deal of technology in the building to improve its energy efficiency and green credentials. The customer experience has been improved, with the introduction of ‘easy access’ which will reduce queues at the reception.
