Hundreds attend rally in support of Muslim community following hate crime at Mosque

Central Mosque Edinburgh

Over 200 people attended a rally organised by Unite Against Fascism Scotland last night to show solidarity with the Muslim community after a hate crime at Edinburgh Central Mosque.

The event was in response to an object being thrown at the mosque in the early hours of Sunday morning which resulted in the front door of the building in Potterrow suffering  fire damage.

No-one was injured during the incident and an investigation is underway.

Speakers included local politicians as well as members of the Muslim Women’s Association of Edinburgh.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to get in touch by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111
