Edinburgh City 1-6 Hibernian – Hibs pre season campaign continues
Hibs pre-season campaign continued with a 6-1 victory over Edinburgh City at Meadowbank Stadium last night.
Neil Lennon passed up the change to spy on European opponents Brondby to cast an eye over his own squad and was not to be disappointed.
Before the kick off Edinburgh City showed fans their Lowland League trophy and Hibs paraded the Scottish Cup.
Hibs started brightly and Jason Cummings, who was up against his older brother Dean had two shots saved by Andrew Stobie in the City goal.
Lennon’s men opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Darren McGregor headed home Lewis Stevenson’s cross then Cummings added a second when he diverted Martin Boyle’s strike into the net.
The youngster almost grabbed his second moments later but his curled shot rebounded off the post leaving Sam Stanton the simple task of tapping the ball into the empty net.
Dylan McGeouch added a fourth in the 26th minute with a superb low strike into the bottom corner.
Neil Lennon made four half time changes, taking off Cummings, David Gray, Boyle, and McGeouch and replacing them with James Keatings, Aaron Dunsmore, Alex Harris and Fraser Fyvie.
Hibs continued to dominate the game but Edinburgh City pulled one back in the 76th minute when Ousman See shot past substitute keeper Mark Oxley but Keatings restored the four goal advantage with a low strike.
