Death of three-month-old girl now being treated as suspicious

Detectives are now treating death of three-month-old Sophia Williams who died in Edinburgh’s Sick Kids Hospital after falling ill at Strathbrock family unit in Broxburn as suspicious.

Sophia  died on June 5 after a week of treatment and initially the death was being treated as “unexplained”

Detective inspector Rory Hamilton, of the major investigations team, said: “We are now treating the death of Sophia Williams as suspicious.

“Our investigation continues as we work towards establishing the full set of circumstances that led to Sophia’s death and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
