British Transport Police have confirmed that the death of a man whose body was found on a disused railway line in Edinburgh last Friday is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers launched a major enquiry after the discovery was made near the former Abbeyhill train station at Abbey Lane

The body had been identified as a 40-year-old man from Edinburgh.

It was thought the body had been on the path  for some time.

A spokeswoman said: “His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
