Our Pick of Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 – What Kind of Fool Am I?
This real-life comedy show blends humour with self-analysis. It aims to get members of the audience to discover their personality type as well as reflect on their own life stories.
Through thought-provoking biographical material, writer and performer Helen Wood weaves together information and observations about the little-known Enneagram personality ‘system’. Which of the nine personality types do Helen and various characters in her life fit into?
In this fast-paced, entertaining show, Helen ‘encounters’ Freud and Goethe; has insights from postage stamps, Scrabble and Labradors; and ‘enjoys’ a short spell in Essex.
The show involves a varied selection of quirky props including a Freud puppet, a Scrabble board made from postage stamps and a life-like, black Labrador. What Kind of Fool am I? is filled with up-beat, nostalgic musical interludes and there’s a personality guide hand-out for audience members to take away at the end.
When Helen discovered the Enneagram personality system a few years ago it transformed her life. Having learned she’s a Type 7, the enthusiast, she committed to nurturing her enthusiasm for comedy, writing and performance.
