Man detained pending deportation at Edinburgh supermarket

Members of the the Home Office’s immigration enforcement department supported by local officers raided the Calder Supermarket in Calder Park on Thursday morning and detained a man who is currently being held pending deportation.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “A 26-year-old Pakistani man who had overstayed his student visa was arrested and transferred to immigration detention pending removal from the UK.

“Inquiries into the business are continuing.”
