[tweet_box design=”default”]Interesting documentary about the founding of the Ladies’ Professional Golf Association in the States. [/tweet_box]

Interviews with some of the original founders and current press and golfing professionals are woven with re-enactments, original film and news footage to create an interesting, if slightly meandering, history of the organisation.  The tenacity and drive (!) of the veterans was remarkable, many of them eschewing marriage and children to pursue their sport.

The subjects of same-sex relationships and the allowing of Hispanic and African American women into professional golf was touched upon and there was some insight into the fiery and ferocious rivalry between the well-known Babe Zaharias, who died of colon cancer in 1956, and the lesser known but just as successful Louise Suggs.
