Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 – programme is out now

TER 2016 Fringe Launch

Yes folks it is that time already – you can now pick up your 2016 brochure for all things Fringe.

The brand new Chief Executive Shona McCarthy is determined to ensure that the open access festival continues to be just that. At the launch earlier today marking her first year of being Chief Executive, she said : “Artists are at the core of this and will be during my time here. It would not happen at al without the artists and performers who take the risk and put their work on show.

“The Fringe is indeed an extraordinary thing : a festival that defies the norm in every possible way. At its heart is the founding principle of open access, allowing any one the opportunity of being part of it. Being part of it means being listed in the programme, experiencing the city at its cultured best and to develop as artists.

“I am looking forward to welcoming participants and audiences to Edinburgh in August for another fantastic Edinburgh Festival Fringe. ”

Festivals Champion Councillor Richard Lewis said: “It is a pleasure to take part in the opening of the Festival Fringe. While the money is important – and the £142 million that is generated for the city is key and the council welcomes the income to our city economy, but bringing the arts and particularly the international arts to Edinburgh this August is crucially important.

“For the City of Edinburgh Council this marks the 70th year of supporting the festivals and the Fringe continues to go from strength to strength. The 2016 programme is a testament to the popularity of the festival as a place that performers from all over the world flock to showcase new work and meet new audiences.”
