What gives ‘Super’ John McGinn goosebumps?
Plenty of songs were sung during Sunday’s victory parade down Leith, but one in particular rang out more than others.
To the tune of ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ every man, woman and child belted out “We’ve got McGinn, Super John McGinn, I just don’t think you understand. He’s Alan Stubb’s man, He’s better than Zidane. We’ve got Super John McGinn.”
So what does the youngster think of the song?
He told Hibs TV: “It gives me goosebumps. to have over 80,000 people on Leith Links chanting your name is something that you dream about when you are a young boy.
“You look up at big names sin the game getting songs sung about themĀ and then there is one dedicated to yourself. It’s an incredible feeling. There were guys on that bus whose name doesn’t quite fit in a tune who deserve more recognition, like Darren McGregor, Lewis Stevenson and Paul Hanlon who have been through hard times at this club and they deserved today.
“We really enjoyed it. It was a day that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
“It was something that doesn’t come along too often and we need to use this as a springboard to the future.”
The Scotland international also spoke of his delight about ending Hibs Scottish Cup hoodoo and also ending a phrase which clearly rankled.
He continued: “At full time I ran straight for Paul Hanlon who was limping onto the pitch. I think it was relief and excitement and sheer jubilation all in one. It was just an incredible feeling.
“You could tell right away that we had done something special and now we will go down in history. To finally put all the doubters to bed and take the monkey off our back and to finally get rid of that stupid ‘Hibs’d it’ saying, I think 2-1 down with 15 minutes to go, I think we must have ‘Hibs’d it’ eh?
