Teenager due in court following death of nurse on Old Dalkeith Road

A teenager has been charged following the death of 33-year-old nurse Jill Pirrie who was struck by a car on the A7 Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh, on Thursday night.

The 33-year-old was returning home from Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after completing a shift there.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “An 18 year old man has been arrested and charged with a number of road traffic offences, following the fatal collision on Old Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh on Thursday 12th May in which 33-year-old Jill Pirrie died.

“The male is expected to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow, Wednesday 18th May.”
