Lord Provost over the finish line in London

 Edinburgh’s Lord Provost Donald Wilson finished the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise £4,073.75 and counting for his One City Trust Rapid Action Fund.

Running in his trademark ‘chain’ of office running gear, he completed the 26.2 miles in four hours and 56 minutes, beating his previous 2015 record of five hours two minutes and 50 seconds.

The money raised will be go towards fighting inequality in Edinburgh. The Lord Provost’s One City Trust Rapid Action Fund has provided emergency funds to local organisations such as Get2Gether which helps people with disabilities socialise and build friendships and Bridge8, which provides a gateway to Edinburgh’s outdoors to support disadvantaged young people. He said: “There’s nothing easy about a marathon – even Mo Farah says so – but I am relieved to have once again made it to the finish line! I was running for Edinburgh and all of the groups and organisations that have and will be helped by the One City Trust. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me every step of the way – literally! It has certainly been worth it.”
