Hibs’ Development Squad 1-1 St Johnstone Development Squad
The Hibs’ Development Squad drew 1-1 with St Johnstone on Tuesday evening at Ainslie Park.
The Hibs goal came from striker Oli Shaw with a looping header in the 57th minute then three minutes later Aaron Dunsmore was penalised for a foul on Eoghan McCawl but Sean Brennan saved the resultant penalty diving low to his left.
In the 73rd minute however St Johnstone equalised from the penalty spot after Kevin Waugh was adjudged to have handled the ball, This time George Huter made no mistake,
After the game Joe McBride, Hibernian U20 Development Coach told the cub website: “The game wasn’t great. We started poorly and were on the backfoot for the first ten minutes or so and got a bit better. One of their players got sent off, but then the second half was as poor as we’ve been this season in terms of managing the game against ten men.
“We managed to get ourselves in front, but gave away two penalties, and Sean Brennan had far too much to do for a team that was a man up.
“It’s always disappointing to give away penalties, and I haven’t seen the second one, but there were no complaints from the players. The first one was definitely a penalty as well.
“I have no complaints about them being given, but I’m disappointed in the way we have given them away.”
Hibernian Development Squad: Brennan, Dunsmore, Porteous, Waugh, Crane, Stirling, Smith, Mackie (Gullan, 54), Watson, Shaw, Peters (Donaldson, 58).
The Hibernian Development Squad are next in action away to Celtic on Monday 25 April, with the match taking place at Cappielow, with a 6pm kick-off.
