Further witness appeal following fatal collision in Morningside
Police are today refreshing their appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Morningside on Sunday.
In particular, officers want to trace a man who was seen standing outside Stefanos Chip Shop and left visibly upset after an 85-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a refuse vehicle on Morningside Road, near to Jordan Lane, at around 11:45am.
Police also want to speak with a pedestrian who was seen crossing the same stretch of road shortly before the incident itself.
Sergeant Andrew Miller of the road policing unit said: “Our investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing and I am today urging anyone who was in the area around the time of this collision to come forward.
“In particular, I’m keen to speak with a man who was standing on a nearby pavement and wearing a light coloured jumper. He was visibly upset and may have witnessed the tragic events as they unfolded.
“Similarly, I want to hear from a pedestrian who was crossing the same stretch of road shortly before the collision.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
