Fraser Fyvie insists that despite the chance of winning silverware in his first full season at Hibs, the priority for the players remains promotion from the Ladbrokes Championship.

Already this season Hibs have disposed of three top flight teams en route to Hampden Park and the former Aberdeen and Wigan midfielder believes his side sent out a statement as they defeated St Johnstone 2-1 in the Scottish League Cup presented by Utilita Semi Final at Tynecastle yesterday.

Having booked the final place against either Celtic or Ross County, Hibs now travel to Greenock on Tuesday to face Morton then they return to Tynecastle on Saturday to face Hearts in the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

The Morton fixture gives Hibs the chance to move to within five points of leaders Rangers who beat fellow promotion chasers Falkirk yesterday at Ibrox thanks to a last minute goal from on-loan signing Billy King.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Fyvie said: “We sent out a statement today that we want to do well in every competition. The league is the most important, but we’ve got ourselves in a cup final now.

“I think the league is our main priority, we want to get back into the Scottish Premiership and we’ve shown today we can compete with the top-flight teams.”
