Fresh from unveiling its new look public spaces, with a cutting edge refurbishment having just taken place of the Monarchs restaurant, the Champions Lounge and the Ten Pin Lounge, Deer Park Golf and Country Club has announced that it has launched a new activity, footgolf.

Played without clubs, footgolf involves kicking a full size football around a modified course into six specially sized holes. Deer Park sees the activity fitting well into its portfolio of fun, sporting activities for groups and will be offered as a stand alone activity and as an add on after a round of golf has taken place, to finish off the day with yet more more fun and stimulating competition.

Brian Inglis, Golf Sales Manager, takes up the story: “We are excited to be one of the first clubs in the area to offer footgolf. Some golfing knowledge is needed to play the activity well, as there are obvious similarities. You need to be able to kick the ball quite far to start each hole, then finesse and judgement is needed to get the ball in the hole in the least number of kicks.”

Brian added: “We trialled this a few months ago and thought it was great fun. We think it’s going to fit in very well, we have already had a few groups trying it out after their main golfing. I myself played it recently with three other guys and we all really enjoyed it – we played longer than we thought we would as it’s quite addictive, and of course the competitive spirit kicks in, excuse the pun.”

Brian revealed that there is also a website and an association for the activity

“It’s obviously growing in popularity. We are still on a high from our recent refurbishment and the arrival of footgolf here at Deer Park is yet another great announcement to be able to make. 2015 was one of Deer Park’s best years yet in terms of the popularity and playing ability of the golf course. We hosted our most PGA tournaments yet, plus fun events for members of the club and the public such as the Mixed Classic. We are all going into 2016 with huge enthusiasm.”

Prices for footgolf are £10 per adult, £6 per child for an unlimited session, including a £3 deposit for ball return, or you can bring your own ball. The Deer Park footgolf course is just opposite the apartments at Deer Park Heights.
